After spending three months getting her ready for her maiden voyage, Captain Sloan sailed north along the Caribbean, island-hopping towards Miami, Florida, where he spent several more months getting the sailboat ready for the biggest of his life. He teamed up with Officer Rolando G., a dear friend, ex US Navy mechanic and pilot. Rolandos expertise was vital in the preparing Tranquility\u00a0 for the ultimate adventure: the Atlantic crossing.\u00a0<\/p><p><span style=\"font-family: -apple-system, system-ui, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif, 'Apple Color Emoji', 'Segoe UI Emoji', 'Segoe UI Symbol';\">In May 2025, Sloan finally set sail leaving Miami his their dog, Saki (who has more sailing experience than most people).<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c128a94 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"c128a94\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\" data-settings=\"{&quot;background_background&quot;:&quot;classic&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<section class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5810700 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"5810700\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\" data-settings=\"{&quot;background_background&quot;:&quot;classic&quot;}\">\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-401aaa5 e-grid e-con-full e-con e-child\" data-id=\"401aaa5\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-64ac7f4 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"64ac7f4\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0e59de2 elementor-widget__width-inherit elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"0e59de2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The Voyage of a Lifetime<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a22740e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a22740e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li><strong>Miami to Bermuda<\/strong> (8 days at sea): During this first leg, he sailed on the Gulf Stream, dodged thunderstorms, and were rewarded with unforgettable magic: sailing through a glowing, bioluminescent ocean under a night sky so clear it felt like piloting a spaceship through the universe.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>Bermuda to Azores<\/strong> (18 days at sea): After a week of provisioning in Bermuda, while enjoying its beautiful beaches and colorful parrotfish, he began our longest stretch. Crossing the Atlantic was a beautiful, exhausting, and liberating challenge. He and his crew sailed and slept in shifts, patched a torn sail mid-ocean, and lost a hatch to the unforgiving winds. Along the way, they were chaperoned by playful pods of dolphins and massive schools of tuna. <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the 18th morning, the cliffs of the Azores archipelago emerged through the fog.<\/span><\/span><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He stayed at Horta Marina for six weeks. Located on Faial Island in the Portuguese Azores, Horta is a legendary crossroads for transatlantic sailors, where colorful paintings cover the marina walls and sidewalks, each mural telling the story of an ocean-crossing voyage, according to a unique maritime tradition: painting a mural on the jetty walls to ensure safe passage through the Atlantic.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After some well-deserved rest, taking in the island\u2019s stunning volcanic landscapes, blue hydrangeas, and a few too many past\u00e9is de nata, he got back to work. He carried out maintenance on several key systems aboard the sailboat, including the solar panels, autopilot, and fridge compressor.<\/span><\/p><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><strong>Azores to mainland Portugal\u00a0<\/strong>(7 days at sea): <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once Tranquility was ready to sail again, he spent some days exploring the Azores Islands before setting off on the transatlantic passage from Ponta Delgada in S\u00e3o Miguel Island to mainland Portugal, keeping a watchful eye out through orca territory<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-68c29ef e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"68c29ef\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2f0e899 elementor-widget__width-inherit elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"2f0e899\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Our Chosen Home<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-08c4dac elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"08c4dac\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He sailed along Portugal\u2019s coastline before reaching Spain.
